Filbert Press with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Designing Get Plants for a new generation of gardeners

Book cover titled "Get Plants" by Katherine Price, featuring a close-up photograph of trailing succulent plants in a pot, with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew branding and the subtitle "How to bring green into your life," set against a pale green background.

With a younger generation embracing houseplants, Filbert Press — in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew — commissioned Get Plants by Katherine Price. The aim was to inspire a wider audience, especially younger readers, to bring more greenery into their homes.

Our role

We led art direction and design, working closely with Filbert Press, Kew, the author, and the photographer to create a book that bridged horticultural authority with contemporary lifestyle appeal.

Engaging through bold simplicity

The book is divided into four sections, each introduced with expressive typography. Contrasted with a clean sans serif for pull-out quotes and references, the design strikes a balance between elegance and confidence. Careful finishes added substance and tactility, ensuring the book feels both approachable and coffee table–ready.

Bridging horticulture and lifestyle

Our approach made full use of Kew’s heritage and knowledge, while ensuring the book’s tone appealed to modern plant lovers. The result is a design that comfortably sits between an educational primer and a stylish lifestyle volume.

Impact

Get Plants established Kew’s expertise in a fresh, contemporary way, positioning the brand to reach a younger audience without losing its authority.

Studio Noel’s interpretation of the design brief was spot on and the designed book is spectacular. It’s without doubt one of the best books I have been involved in and I look forward to working together again in the future.
