Quarto Books commissioned us to design and illustrate Let’s Talk About Friendship and Let’s Talk About Anxiety, a pair of playful book-and-card sets designed to make important topics more accessible for children. Each set includes 20 conversation cards written by expert counsellors, plus a 64-page book of ideas and activities.
Our role
We led series design, cover and layout design, character creation, and illustration. The ambition was to develop a bright and inviting look that would feel ageless and engaging, while encouraging young people to talk openly about friendship and anxiety.
Designing playful accessibility
The books combine bold colours with cheerful, emotive characters that help break down complex ideas into simple, approachable prompts. Our designs strike a balance between fun and usefulness, ensuring that both children and adults can connect with the material.
Impact
The Let’s Talk About series helps stimulate social and emotional development by making sensitive topics approachable, accessible, and even enjoyable to explore. Its playful visual identity positions it as both a practical tool and an inviting resource for families and schools.
