Designing a bold debut for Roo Day

Pink book cover titled *Getting Sh*t Done* by Roo Day, featuring bold black typography with an asterisk symbol, the subtitle “Conquer the chaos. One small habit at a time.”, and the handle “@homewithroo” at the bottom, set against a peach background.

Ebury Publishing commissioned us to design the cover for Getting Sh*t Done, the instant Sunday Times bestseller from content creator Roo Day. The book takes Roo’s trademark humour and pragmatic approach to life and translates it into a guide for everyday organisation, motivation and survival.

Our role

We designed a bold typographic cover that mirrored the book’s no-nonsense attitude. The brief was to capture Roo’s irreverent, playful style while ensuring instant recognition.

Creative approach

Punchy typography dominates the cover, paired with a clean, stripped-back layout that lets the words take centre stage. The design ensures strong impact both on bookshelves and in digital formats, delivering instant recognition and standout even at Amazon thumbnail scale.

Impact

The book launched as an instant Sunday Times bestseller, establishing Roo Day as a bold new voice in lifestyle publishing and proving the power of a striking cover in a competitive market.
