Hardie Grant Books commissioned Vegan Goodness by Jessica Prescott, author of the blog Wholly Goodness. Known for her distinctive mix of food, photography, and hand-drawn lettering, Jessica’s first cookbook needed to translate her personal style into a design that could work across international co-editions.

Our role
We led art direction, design, and illustration, ensuring the book retained Jessica’s creative personality while being practical for co-edition publishing. The ambition was to celebrate plant-based food in a way that felt vibrant, stylish, and approachable.

Capturing natural colour
The cover brings together a rainbow of fresh ingredients, laid out playfully to echo the book’s title. Contemporary embossed typography set within the circular layout adds elegance and structure, balancing the cover’s expressive energy with refinement.

Illustrating playfully by hand
To retain the character of Jessica’s blog, we hand-illustrated ingredients throughout the book. These illustrations appear in chapter openers and recipes, giving the pages rhythm and warmth while nodding to her signature style. The result is a design that feels personal, joyful, and timeless.

Impact
Vegan Goodness established Jessica Prescott as a published author while bringing her distinctive creative voice to a global audience through a successful co-edition format.

“Working with Studio Noel was both an honour and a pleasure. They did an incredible job with the layout which has given my book a timelessness. The illustrations are perfect, exactly what I wanted.”
